Islamabad, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Asad Umar has urged people to get fully vaccinated at the earliest to stay safe from the new variant of Coronavirus. Addressing a news conference along with Special Assistant on Health Services Dr. Faisal Sultan in Islamabad on Monday, he said spread of new variant Omicron is alarmingly fast.
The Chairman NCOC said fifty million people have been fully vaccinated while thirty million have received vaccine partially. Asad Umar said Covid testing will be increased and vaccination campaign will be boosted to avoid any adverse effects of the new variant. He said booster vaccine program will be finalized till tomorrow.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Faisal Sultan said mostly the spread of new variant is fast in the areas where people are not vaccinated. He said fast spread of the virus may affect our health system and we may face shortage of beds and other required equipment. He asked the people to follow SOPs to minimize the spread of new variant.
