Around 100 Arrested During Cordon and Search Operations in Rajouri and Bandipora

Srinagar, Indian army and paramilitary forces have arrested more than 100 people during cordon and search operations in the Bandipora and Rajouri districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown following the killing of a government employee in Rajouri.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian police confirmed that at least 67 people were arrested in the Shahadra area of Rajouri district over the past two days. The operation was launched after a government employee, Mohammad Razaq, was killed by unknown gunmen in the district two days ago.

A police spokesperson stated, “Thus far, 67 suspected individuals have been detained for questioning following this incident.” The large-scale arrests reflect the heightened security measures implemented after the recent violence in the district.

In addition to the arrests in Rajouri, dozens more were taken into custody during the ongoing search operation in Bandipora district. These operations are part of the Indian forces’ broader effort to maintain order and investigate any potential links to violent incidents in the region.

The continued cordon and search operations have increased tensions in the area, as the security forces work to establish control and identify suspects involved in the recent killing. The extensive arrests also raise concerns about the broader impact on the local population and the potential for further unrest.
