Rawalpindi, 17 Oct 2023:General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), chaired the 260th Corps Commanders’ Conference at GHQ today. The participants began the meeting by offering Fateha for the Shuhadas of the recent incidents in Mastung, Hangu, and Zhob during the Holy month of Rabi’ al-Awwal. The forum paid tribute to the unwavering sacrifices of the Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies in their battle against terrorism.
The conference vowed to rigorously handle all terrorists, including their facilitators and abettors, who work under the direction of external forces to destabilize Pakistan. Attendees received a briefing on the current geo-strategic environment, challenges to national security, and the state’s strategies in response to emerging threats. They reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial boundaries against any direct or indirect challenges.
The situation in the Gaza-Israel War was discussed with concern, especially noting the considerable civilian casualties due to Israel’s disproportionate use of force. The COAS expressed, “the Palestinian people have the unwavering diplomatic, moral, and political backing of the Pakistani populace, and we persist in supporting the principled position of our brethren for the enduring resolution of the Palestinian issue and cessation of the unjust occupation of their lands and Muslims’ Sacred sites.”
The conference participants pledged their support for the government’s strategic initiatives aimed at economic rejuvenation, assuring to do everything possible for the overall welfare of Pakistan’s residents. The forum also thoroughly reviewed actions against unlawful economic activities, with the COAS emphasizing the army’s ongoing commitment to aid the government and LEAs in stringent lawful measures against illicit economic activities nationwide. Actions against entities involved in hoarding, smuggling, and other illicit practices will intensify in the coming days.
In line with the Federal Government’s directive, the forum endorsed the decision to begin repatriating and deporting all illegal foreigners starting from 1st November 2023. COAS directed all relevant departments to ensure a dignified, secure, and seamless repatriation or deportation process for these individuals.
