Army Chief Vows to Protect Honor of Martyrs and Combat Digital Terrorism

Islamabad, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir has strongly reaffirmed the military’s commitment to defending the honor of Pakistan’s martyrs and countering attempts to sow discord between the armed forces and the public. Addressing personnel in Lahore, he condemned the exploitation of digital platforms to attack the nation’s unity and integrity, especially highlighting the egregious acts committed on May 9th against state symbols and Shuhada monuments.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir described the events of May 9 as a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history, orchestrated by enemies both internal and external. He stressed that these actions provided adversaries with opportunities to demean Pakistan’s state and national pride. The Army Chief underscored the determination to bring all involved, from planners to facilitators of the May 9 events, to justice, while emphasizing that the army’s restraint should not be misconstrued as weakness.

General Munir also noted that some individuals were misled into participating in these acts and have been given the benefit of the doubt as directed by the Supreme Court. However, he clarified that the instigators and leaders who orchestrated these attacks will face full accountability, especially those with undeniable evidence against them. The address was followed by a tribute at the Martyrs’ Monument, where General Munir laid a floral wreath and honored those who have sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.
