Rawalpindi: In a spirited ceremony held today, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir pledged unwavering support for the youth, emphasizing their role in building a prosperous Pakistan. The event celebrated Olympian Arshad Nadeem’s historic win, marking Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a singles’ event at the Olympics, where he also set a new record.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir lauded Arshad Nadeem’s journey from modest beginnings to Olympic glory, underscoring the virtues of hard work and determination. Nadeem, expressing his gratitude, echoed the importance of perseverance and positive outlook in overcoming challenges and achieving success.
The ceremony was notably attended by sports legends and teams from various disciplines, including the 1984 Olympic and National Hockey Teams, National Cricket Team, and participants of the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Figures such as Jehangir Khan, Isalah Ud Din, and Aisam-ul-Haq were among the attendees, alongside Nadeem’s family, friends, and coaches, celebrating this monumental occasion in Pakistani sports.
