APHC urges UN to implement its resolutions on Kashmir

Srinagar, January 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the incarcerated All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and other leaders and organizations have called upon the United Nations to resolve the Kashmir dispute by implementing its resolutions that guaranteed the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Masarrat Aalam Butt in a message sent from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail and released in Srinagar said the non-implementation of the resolution passed by the UN Security Council on January 5, 1949 in favour of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is a big question mark on the existence of the World Body. He maintained that the Kashmiris have been offering unprecedented sacrifices for achieving this right for the last several decades. He pointed out that India’s obduracy is the main obstacle in the implementation of the UNSC resolutions.

The APHC Chairman said that the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government attempted to change the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir by illegally and unilaterally abrogating the occupied territory’s special status and forcibly integrating it with the Indian union on August 5, 2019 in complete disregard of the UN resolutions. He said the disputed nature of Kashmir is a reality and Modi regime through its illegal moves can’t change this fact as Kashmir remains an unresolved dispute on the UN agenda.

Masarrat Aalam Butt said that the Modi government is implementing every wicked plan to convert the Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir into a Hindu majority. For this purpose, he said, New Delhi on one hand is killing the Kashmiri Muslims on a large scale, while on the other, it has granted occupied territories domicile certificates to lacs of Indian Hindus since August 5, 2019. He said that brave Kashmiris have totally rejected all illegal, unconstitutional and illegitimate measures of the Hindutva Indian government.

The APHC Chairman said Pakistan is a strong supporter of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and is making great efforts to secure this right for them so that they can decide their political future by themselves. He said that the subjugated people of IIOJK are very grateful to Pakistan for fully advocating their righteous cause at all international forums. He said it is the responsibility of the UN and the international community to take notice of India’s intransigence and bring it to book for not honouring its international commitments on Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, headed by incarcerated senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a statement in Srinagar said that the UN should fulfill its legal and moral obligations to implement the 5th January 1949 historic resolution, which acknowledged the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It said that the international community, particularly the UN, must come forward and play an effective role in the settlement the Kashmir dispute to save the Kashmiris from Indian brutalities.

The DFP said the Kashmiris have been facing the Indian state terrorism for the past several decades. It deplored that IIOJK has been turned into a virtual hell for its residents by the fascist Modi regime, which is hell bent upon changing the demography of the territory. It said that holding of plebiscite under the auspices of the UN was the only way forward to resolve the dispute peacefully.

APHC leader, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, in a statement in Srinagar said the unresolved Kashmir dispute has become a nuclear flashpoint and a potential threat to regional as well as international peace and security. He said that the Kashmir dispute could be resolved by implementing the resolutions passed by UN Security Council but India’s intransigent attitude had been an impediment and the biggest hurdle in achieving this goal.

APHC leaders, Khadim Hussain and Syed Sibte Shabir Qummi, in a joint statement issued in Srinagar deplored that the UN has failed to implement its resolutions on Kashmir despite the passage of several decades. They said India is the main obstacle in the implementation of the UN resolutions which is attempting to suppress the Kashmiris’ just struggle through military might. They said that being an important party to the Kashmir dispute, Pakistan is a great advocate of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and wants that they should get this birth right. They said that it is the responsibility of the United Nations and the international community to take notice of India’s intransigence on the Kashmir dispute and force it to allow the Kashmiri people to decide their fate by themselves.

Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Hurriyat Front in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the UN should fulfill its responsibilities regarding settlement of the Kashmir dispute. It said that the World Body must act swiftly to stop the killing of innocent Kashmiris at the hands of Indian troops. Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leaders, Gulshan Ahmad and Qazi Imran, in their statements issued in Islamabad said the non-resolution of the Kashmir issue is the biggest failure of the UN and a question mark on its credibility. They said it is the responsibility of the World Body to fulfill its promise of holding plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir so that the Kashmiris can exercise their right to self-determination.
