Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has underscored the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue as essential for the peace and prosperity of the South Asian region. This sentiment was expressed amidst concerns over the ongoing tensions and human rights violations in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas emphasized the critical nature of the Kashmir dispute in the broader context of regional stability, advocating for a peaceful resolution through sustained dialogue. The statement came against the backdrop of recent incidents, including house raids, cordon and search operations, and the arrest of six youths on allegedly fabricated charges by Indian forces in Srinagar and Islamabad districts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Minhas highlighted the futility of conflict and the necessity of dialogue between Pakistan and India to create a conducive environment for peace. He called on the leadership of both countries to exhibit political wisdom and initiate a new chapter towards securing the future of South Asia’s people by addressing the Kashmir dispute in line with the desires of its inhabitants.
The APHC spokesman also condemned the repressive tactics employed by India in Kashmir, asserting that such measures would not deter the Kashmiri people’s aspiration for freedom. He appealed to the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, to acknowledge the deteriorating situation in IIOJK and intervene to halt the human rights abuses perpetrated by Indian forces.
This call to action by the APHC highlights the ongoing struggle in Kashmir and the critical need for international attention and intervention to resolve a conflict that continues to affect the lives and future of millions in the region.
