Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced significant concern regarding the ongoing cordon and search operations, as well as house raids conducted by Indian troops and intelligence agencies against activists and the general populace in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These actions, As per the APHC, are designed to intimidate those advocating for peace and freedom in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC released a statement in Srinagar detailing the distress caused by these continuous operations. The organization highlighted that the youth in the region are being arrested en masse and summoned to police stations, a tactic that has yet to dissuade Kashmiris from their quest for self-determination—a right they consider legitimate and just.
The APHC underscored that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir transcends mere law and order issues or territorial disputes, framing it instead as a political conflict acknowledged by both the United Nations and its Security Council. The heart of the matter, as per the APHC, is the right to self-determination, a principle that stands in stark contrast to the actions of the so-called Hindutva-led Bharatiya Janata Party regime, which the APHC accuses of committing egregious violations in IIOJK.
In its statement, the APHC also took the opportunity to appeal to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, urging him to facilitate a resolution to the Kashmir dispute that aligns with both the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Additionally, the APHC called on the international community to pressure India to halt its human rights abuses in the region.
This plea underscores the APHC’s position that the resolution of the Kashmir issue lies not in military might or coercion, but in recognizing the political rights and desires of the Kashmiri populace.
