APHC Raises Alarm over Detainees’ Conditions in Indian and Kashmiri Jails

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns about the ongoing illegal detention and mistreatment of Hurriyat leaders and activists in jails across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an APHC spokesman, in a statement from Srinagar, disclosed that detainees are suffering from lack of legal rights and basic amenities in what he described as “hell-like Indian jails.” He highlighted the resilience of the Kashmiri people who, despite facing state terrorism, arbitrary arrests, torture, and humiliation, continue to resist with determination and fervor.

The APHC emphasized that the incarcerated leaders and activists, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, and several others, have devoted their lives to the cause of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian subjugation. Despite being subjected to political vendetta and harsh treatment, these individuals remain steadfast in their mission.

The spokesman called on international human rights organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to address the plight of Kashmiri prisoners. He urged these bodies to contribute to resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
