Srinagar, April 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):In occupied Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat leaders have paid rich tributes to noted Kashmiri physician, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, on his martyrdom anniversary. The APHC leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous, Javaid Ahmed Mir, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Zamruda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Farida Bahenji, Khadim Hussain, Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi, Dr Mus’ab and Muhammad Aaqib in their statements issued in Srinagar and Jammu said that despite being highly educated, well-off and a reputed heart surgeon, Dr Abdul Ahad Guru joined the freedom movement under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and laid down his life for the Kashmir cause.
They said the people of Kashmir are indebted to martyrs like Dr Abdul Ahad Guru who sacrificed their today for the future of Kashmiris. They said the freedom struggle of Kashmir is represented by the blood of great intellectuals, ulema, social leaders, teachers, lawyers, and other noted personalities. The APHC leaders said that Dr Guru was the first Kashmiri Muslim who started open heart surgery in occupied Kashmir and wrote a new chapter in the medical history of the territory. His efforts for making Soura Medical Institute a well-established health center is well known, they said.
The APHC leaders maintained the best part of Dr Guru’s life is that he without looking towards his status and position, joined the freedom struggle and started the journey on a thorny path. It is to mention here that Dr Guru was abducted and later shot dead on this day in 1993 by Indian troops.
