APHC Leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Mourns the Loss of Mentor Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani in IIOJK

Karachi, Senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has expressed profound grief over the passing of his mentor and teacher, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, known as Mahad Sahab, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The death of Wani, a prominent religious scholar and respected businessman from Srinagar, has left a significant void in the community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, hailing from Shahr-e-Khaas in Srinagar, was not only a leading religious figure but also a renowned businessman with a deep connection to the Mirwaiz family. He played a pivotal role as a mentor to Mohammad Farooq, when he became the Mirwaiz at the age of 17, and subsequently to Umar Farooq, upon assuming the same position in 1990.

In his statement, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid heartfelt tributes to Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, acknowledging his invaluable guidance and support in Farooq’s journey to becoming the Mirwaiz. He described Wani’s passing as a significant loss, highlighting his dedication and contributions to religious education and his community.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who also led the funeral prayers for the deceased, praised his late mentor for his profound knowledge, affection, compassion, and prudence as a religious scholar. He emphasized Wani’s respected role in the field of religious education and its widespread dissemination, underscoring the impact of his teachings and guidance.

Furthermore, Mirwaiz extended his condolences to the bereaved family members, particularly to Wani’s son, Khursheed Ahmad Wani. The loss of Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani is mourned not only by his family and students but also by the wider community that respected and valued his insights and leadership in religious and social matters.
