Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has called for concrete actions to resolve the longstanding Jammu and Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the region’s historical and ongoing struggle for freedom.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement made in Islamabad, Rehmani commemorated the martyrs of the 1931 uprising against Dogra rule, underscoring the indigenous and democratic nature of Kashmir’s freedom movement. He criticized India’s actions since its annexation in 1947, particularly the downgrading of Jammu and Kashmir to a union territory. Rehmani appealed to the international community to take a proactive role in facilitating a peaceful resolution based on the will of the Kashmiri people, whom he described as the legitimate stakeholders in this dispute.
