APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami patron Nisar Hussain Rathar passes away in Srinagar

Srinagar, August 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami patron, Nisar Hussain Rathar, passed away, today in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Nisar Hussain Rathar was suffering from diabetes for a long time and his health condition became worse over the past few days due to sudden increase of his blood sugar. He suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Bemina area of Srinagar this morning and was immediately shifted to JVC Hospital in the city where he later breathed his last.

Nisar Hussain Rather was laid to rest at the Bemina graveyard after Zohr prayers. His Nimaz-e-Jinaza was led by renowned religious cleric Agha Syed Hadi and it was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami leaders and activists also participated in the last rites of the deceased. Nisar Hussain Rathar was one of the founding members of Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami. He remained zealously affiliated with the Kashmir freedom movement throughout his life. He faced incarcerations and torture several times at the hands of Indian occupation forces but remained resolute and unwavering.

APHC leadership and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir in their separate statements issued in Srinagar expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Nisar Hussain Rathar. They said the deceased will always be remembered for his selfless service and exemplary role in the ongoing struggle of the people of Kashmir to free their homeland from the Indian occupation. They said that Nisar Hussain Rathar had dedicated his life for the Kashmiris people’s struggle for right to self-determination.

Extending heartfelt condolences to his family members and friends, they prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give strength and fortitude to the bereaved family and friends to bear this huge loss with patience. APHC leaders including Abdul Ahad Parra, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Hakeem Abdu Rasheed, Shabbir Ahmed and Advicate Muzammil as well as and Kashmir High Court Bar Association General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen, in their statements expressed grief over the death of Nisar Hussain Rathar. Tey paid rih tributes to him for his contribution and sacrifices for the Kashmir freedom movement.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar and other leaders including Sheikh Abdul Mateen and Imtiaz Wani in their statements issued in Islamabad expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Nisar Hussain Rathar. They said the services and sacrifices of the deceased in the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle will always be remembered. They extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
