APHC Labels India’s Kashmir Stance as ‘Unrealistic and Arrogant’

Birmingham, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has criticized India’s stance on the Kashmir issue, labeling it as utterly unrealistic and arrogant.

According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, a spokesperson for the APHC, in a statement released in Srinagar, expressed that military force cannot resolve a deeply-rooted political dispute like that of Kashmir. The spokesman vehemently condemned India’s extensive use of military power, inclusive of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), as means to suppress the Kashmiri people’s genuine demands.

Further elaborating, the spokesperson stressed that the aspirations of the Kashmiris, grounded in their right to self-determination, are not only valid but also supported by United Nations resolutions. Highlighting the dire situation, the spokesperson noted that the deployment of an overwhelming military presence in the occupied region, representing the highest military-to-civilian ratio globally, amounts to a stark act of state terrorism.

Refuting India’s claims of a return to normalcy in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the spokesperson underscored the escalating tensions since the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. The Kashmiri population endures persistent military repression, resulting in countless instances of killings, torture, arrests, and humiliation.

The APHC also censured the ongoing cordon and search operations led by various Indian forces, and agencies in the territory. In conclusion, the spokesperson urged the United Nations to recognize the alarming situation in IIOJK and facilitate a resolution aligned with UN resolutions.
