APHC Honors Syed Ali Gilani as Symbol of Kashmiri Resistance

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has reaffirmed its veneration for Syed Ali Gilani, the late Hurriyat leader, recognizing him as a pivotal figure in the Kashmiri resistance against Indian rule. As the third anniversary of Gilani’s death approaches, the APHC is calling upon Kashmiris to commemorate his legacy and continue their struggle for self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas announced plans for memorial activities at Gilani’s gravesite in Hyderpora, Srinagar, on September 1. He emphasized the importance of this day for renewing the commitment to the objectives that Gilani and other martyrs of the Kashmiri freedom movement pursued.

Minhas also called for unity and collective action among Kashmiris, urging them to uphold and advance the mission of their fallen leaders as the most fitting tribute. In a parallel event in Islamabad, leaders of the APHC’s Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter, including Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Muhammad Sultan Butt, and Zahid Ashraf, paid homage to Gilani, highlighting his enduring impact on the movement for Kashmiri rights.

These leaders have also encouraged Kashmiris in AJK, Pakistan, and globally to organize protest rallies on the anniversary of Gilani’s martyrdom to highlight the ongoing issues faced by the people of Kashmir and to engage the attention of the international community.
