Srinagar, July 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed his deep concern over the plight of illegally detained APHC leaders and activists, languishing in different jails of the territory and India.
The APHC Assistant Secretary General, Khawaja Firdous Wani, in a press release issued in Srinagar said that in the wake of devastating Covid pandemic, the jails being over crowded, it has become impossible for the inmates to keep social distancing and to follow other SOP’s and hygienic standards. The non-availability of proper medical care has made the lives of the detainees vulnerable to many diseases, he said.
The APHC leader while denouncing the police action against the inmates in Kot Bhalwal jail alleged that the occupational forces raided the prison and threatened the inmates of dire consequences. He said, a horrific atmosphere was created to suppress the inmates for lame excuses of having some mobile phones which is dead impossible in a high security jail like Kot Bhlawal, he said.
Khawaja Firdous condemning the use of brute force against the pro-freedom detainees and inflicting atrocities on them said the Indian fascist regime has turned the jails into hell-like interrogation centres where inmates are subjected to third degree torture which is a brazen violation of human rights related to the prisoners.
He praised the steadfastness displayed by the Hurriyat leaders and activists, illegally detained in different jails of India and IIOJK and saluted the sacrifices rendered by the Icons of the Kashmir freedom moment like Syed Ali Gilani, Dr Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi (all under house arrest), Mohammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Dr Shafi Sharieti, Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Fehmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahidul Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Shahid Yousaf, Shakeel Yousaf, Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Maqsood Ahmad Butt, Amir Hamza, Muhammad Yousaf Falahi, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Dr Ghulam Muhammad Butt, and all others who have been detained on false charges.
Khawaja Firdous termed the detained leaders as the prisoners of conscience and urged the United Nations Human Rights Council and other human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and International Committee of Red Cross to impress upon India to allow their teams to visit the jails to have the on-spot observation of the plight of the detainees. He also demanded an early enquiry by the International Court of Justice regarding the snail’s pace of trial and other deliberate tactics of delaying the trial on one pretext or the other against the prisoners of conscience belonging to the freedom moment of Kashmir
