APHC Decries Repressive Measures Under Modi-led Government in IIOJK

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced strong opposition to what it describes as an escalation in repressive actions by the Modi-led Indian government in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), including intensified cordon and search operations, house raids, property confiscations, and the dismissal of employees. These actions, As per the APHC, amount to an undeclared martial law aimed at quelling the Kashmiri population’s legitimate demand for self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC’s spokesperson issued a statement from Srinagar condemning the Indian military and police’s authoritarian rule over IIOJK, supported by bureaucrats and administrators aligned with the Hindutva ideology. This governance approach is said to suppress Kashmiris’ voices seeking justice and their right to self-determination, recognized by the United Nations.

The statement further highlights the resilience of the Kashmiri people, who, despite facing the brute force of the military and the Special Operations Group (SOG), continue to uphold their cause for freedom from Indian occupation. The APHC criticizes the deployment of over one million troops against the civilian population as a flagrant violation of international law, including the Human Rights Charter of 1948.

This condemnation from the APHC underscores the ongoing tensions in IIOJK and the international community’s concerns regarding the human rights situation in the region. The APHC’s call to attention on these issues seeks to rally support for the Kashmiri cause and end the cycle of repression under the current Indian administration.
