Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), along with several other Hurriyat organizations, has expressed concerns over the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in India. They argue that these policies, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are detrimental to peace in the South Asian region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, multiple Hurriyat organizations, including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, and others, issued separate statements in Srinagar. They accused the Modi government of suppressing Kashmiris through military strength, particularly in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir region. The organizations highlighted the significant number of arrests of political leaders and activists by Indian forces, viewing it as evidence of Kashmiris’ readiness to fight for their rights. They contend that Modi’s governance style has transformed India into a fascist state.
The statements from these parties emphasized the continued struggle of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, a battle that has persisted for over seven decades. They claimed that the Indian government has consistently denied this right, leading to gross injustices and discrimination against the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). They cited the high number of killings in the region since 1989 as a testament to the severity of the situation.
Furthermore, these parties called upon the United Nations and the international community to acknowledge the issue of Indian state terrorism in Kashmir. They urged these bodies to play an active role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the pending resolutions of the United Nations.
In a related development, an analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service criticized the Indian judiciary for its alleged biased support of the BJP and RSS-led government. The report, derived from various interviews and comments within IIOJK, accused the Indian Supreme Court of exhibiting double standards, particularly concerning Article 370. It asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would not be swayed by the actions of the BJP/RSS government and its judiciary, and would continue their demand for self-determination through a plebiscite.
