APHC Condemns Indian Government’s Tactics in Kashmir, Calls for International Action

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has issued a strong condemnation of the Indian government’s repressive measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), including the use of military force and draconian laws, which they claim are aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri populace’s demand for political justice.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Mihas delivered a forceful critique of New Delhi’s actions during a press statement in Srinagar. He highlighted the aggressive implementation of laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as central to India’s strategy of stifling dissent within the region. Mihas pointed out the frequent and arbitrary arrests of Kashmiri youth under the guise of cordon and search operations conducted by Indian forces, describing these actions as part of ongoing state terrorism.

The APHC’s statement also addressed broader violations of human rights in the region, accusing the BJP-led government of systematically infringing upon the Kashmiri people’s freedoms across various facets of life including expression, press, political engagement, and religious practices. In response to these ongoing abuses, the APHC has called upon the international community to intervene and not remain passive observers. Furthermore, Mihas urged the Indian government to reconsider its stance on Kashmir, engage with its commitments made at the United Nations, and acknowledge the region’s demands for self-determination in accordance with international resolutions.

The APHC’s appeal extends to the United Nations, requesting the body to take active steps in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with its own resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, aiming to secure a peaceful future for South Asia.
