APHC Condemns Arrests and Harassment of Kashmiris by Indian Forces

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced strong condemnation against the ongoing crackdown, including detentions and harassment, of Kashmiris by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 16 August 2024, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas released a statement in Srinagar decrying the intensive cordon and search operations carried out by Indian troops. He noted the resilient spirit of the Kashmiri people in the face of the oppressive actions by nearly one million Indian soldiers aiming to suppress their quest for freedom and self-determination.

The APHC criticized the continuous and arbitrary detention of its leaders, activists, and youth, calling for their immediate and unconditional release. The statement highlighted that the charges against these political figures are baseless and lack both legal and moral grounds.

Advocate Minhas emphasized the critical importance of freedom from Indian rule for the Kashmiri people, reaffirming their determination to continue their struggle until achieving their right to self-determination. He also called upon the international community to intervene and compel India to cease its human rights violations in IIOJK and to fulfill its international obligations, including conducting a plebiscite as mandated by United Nations resolutions.
