APHC Commemorates Dr. Guru, Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Kashmir Issue

Srinagar, On the 31st martyrdom anniversary of the esteemed Kashmiri physician Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has paid homage to the memory of Kashmiri martyrs and reiterated the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute. The tribute underscores the continued call for international intervention to address the longstanding conflict in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Manhas pointed to the Kashmir conflict as a primary source of tension in South Asia, underlining its historical role in fueling hostilities between Pakistan and India. He expressed concern over the escalation of nuclear capabilities and defense expenditures by both nations amidst prevailing poverty and suffering among their populations.

The APHC’s statement emphasizes the critical status of Kashmir as a central issue straining Pakistan-India relations and advocates for global efforts to encourage the Government of India to seek a resolution based on United Nations resolutions. The acknowledgment of Dr. Abdul Ahad Guru, a revered heart surgeon and dedicated advocate for the Kashmir cause, further highlights the sacrifices made in pursuit of self-determination and justice for the people of Kashmir.

Additionally, the APHC called for an independent investigation into all instances of extra-judicial killings perpetrated by Indian forces over the last three decades, demanding accountability and redress for the victims and their families. This appeal aligns with the broader demand for a peaceful and just resolution to the Kashmir dispute, reflecting the aspirations of its people.
