Karachi, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly criticized the Indian Supreme Court’s recent decision upholding the Narendra Modi government’s repeal of Article 370, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir is not an internal matter of India but an international dispute recognized by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in Srinagar expressed that India is blatantly ignoring the Kashmiri people’s right to determine their future as per United Nations resolutions. The statement highlighted the Indian government’s reliance on misinformation to shift focus from human rights abuses committed by its forces in the region.
The APHC statement conveyed the Kashmiri people’s deep distress over the Indian Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370, which they view as a manifestation of India’s disregard for legal and democratic principles. The decision, is contrary to the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ignores the core issue of their right to self-determination, a right enshrined in UN resolutions.
The spokesman described the court’s ruling as an additional infringement on Kashmiri rights. He accused India of systematically attempting to strip the Kashmiri people of their land, resources, and identity, aiming to reduce them to a minority in their own homeland. Despite these efforts, the spokesman affirmed the determination of the Kashmiris to reject such illegitimate and anti-Kashmir decisions.
The APHC spokesman stated that the biased verdict of the ‘saffronized’ Indian Supreme Court does not alter the fact that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory under international law, with India’s role as an occupier.
The statement concluded with a call for the international community to intervene, urging them to pressure India to halt its state-sponsored terrorism in the region and resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
In a related development, posters calling for unity and resistance against Indian occupation and anti-Kashmir laws have been displayed in various parts of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including Watergam and Rafiabad. These posters, which have also been circulated on social media platforms, emphasize the Kashmiri people’s commitment to their cause and their right to self-determination, vowing to continue their struggle until they achieve complete success.
