Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a plea to the United Nations, urging it to exert pressure on India to resolve the protracted Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolutions passed by the UN Security Council.
According to Kashmir Media Service, messages from APHC leaders Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Abdul Ahmad Parra, and Bilal Siddiqi, who are currently detained in jails across Srinagar and the Jammu region, highlight the critical nature of the Kashmir dispute as a potential nuclear flashpoint in South Asia. The leaders emphasize that the absence of a resolution to this dispute continues to jeopardize peace in the region.
In their statements, they advocate for dialogue as the most viable means to address and settle the longstanding issue between Pakistan and India. Furthermore, they call on the United Nations to encourage India to cease its policies of state terrorism in the illegally occupied territories of Jammu and Kashmir and to honor its commitment to granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
The APHC’s appeal underscores the urgency of international intervention to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict, which remains one of the most contentious geopolitical issues in South Asia.
