APHC Calls for Unity Among Kashmiris to Advocate for Plebiscite

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called for increased unity among Kashmiri groups to advance their demand for a plebiscite to determine the political future of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas emphasized the historical and ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for justice and freedom from Indian control, highlighting the sacrifices made since 1947. Minhas criticized India for what he described as misleading the international community about the reality in Jammu and Kashmir and insisted that India’s control could not be maintained indefinitely through military power and state-sponsored aggression.

Minhas also addressed the broader geopolitical climate, advocating for diplomatic solutions and dialogue over warfare, urging Pakistan and India to resolve their disputes peacefully, particularly the longstanding Kashmir issue. He condemned recent moves by the Indian government to alter the demographic balance in the region by granting voting rights to non-Kashmiris, labeling it a violation of both international norms and India’s own legal commitments.

The statement concluded with a call for a meaningful dialogue between Pakistan and India, guided by UN resolutions and the desires of the Kashmiri populace, to settle the Kashmir dispute permanently.
