Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a strong condemnation against the ongoing deprivation of social rights in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), marking a significant stance on the “World Day of Social Justice.”
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC’s statement from Srinagar on this globally recognized day emphasized the continued denial of social justice to the people of the territory, along with minorities in India, including Muslims. Highlighting a seven-decade-long struggle for rights, the APHC reiterated its commitment to seeking justice through peaceful means and underscored the importance of adhering to United Nations Security Council resolutions dating back to 1949.
The APHC’s statement also pointed to the exacerbation of injustices following the policies implemented by the BJP government since August 2019. Despite official narratives of normalization within IIOJK, Kashmiri youth have voiced a contrasting reality, detailing a severe military and police presence and a significant erosion of fundamental rights.
In a call to the international community, the APHC urged UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to take immediate action towards a fair resolution of the Kashmir dispute. The organization highlighted the critical nature of this intervention to prevent further escalation in a region characterized by the nuclear capabilities of its involved states.
This appeal from the APHC sheds light on the persistent challenges facing the residents of IIOJK and underscores the urgent need for international attention and action to address the social and political injustices in the region.
