Srinagar, 15 Oct 2023: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the United Nations to address and act on the reported brutal actions of India in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Information from the Kashmir Media Service reveals that an APHC spokesman has publicized a statement in Srinagar, indicating alleged acts of violence by Indian security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency and the State Investigation Agency. The statement accuses these entities of mistreating innocent Kashmiri civilians and confiscating their properties. This purportedly takes place during frequent “cordon and search operations” and home raids throughout the region, actions allegedly aimed at curbing the Kashmiris’ pursuit of self-determination.
The spokesman remarked on the apparent lethargy of the global community, expressing dismay that they have remained indifferent despite the alleged deaths and arrests of several young Kashmiris over the past year. He strongly implored the United Nations to intervene, aiming to settle the Kashmir issue in alignment with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri population.
The statement also touched upon the disappointment felt over the international community’s silence regarding claimed human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Separately, various political analysts and experts, in their discussions with the media, have pointed to the believed aggressive strategies employed by the Indian government to stifle the Kashmiri fight for self-determination. These experts have particularly highlighted the roles of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) in purportedly intimidating the local populace, suggesting that their efforts will ultimately prove unsuccessful. Allegations suggest that the NIA and SIA have been targeting homes of Hurriyat leaders, journalists, human rights advocates, and ordinary civilians in IIOJK. Analysts have opined that these tactics are intentionally employed against those opposing the BJP’s policies in the area, using them as instruments of fear.
Furthermore, these experts condemned the perceived manipulation of judicial tools by the Indian government, insinuating that various leaders, scholars, and regular citizens are being falsely charged.
