Islamabad, July 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has expressed serious concern about the declining health of illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Yasin Malik was on Tuesday shifted to a hospital after his health condition deteriorated in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail. He was on an indefinite hunger strike since Friday (July 22) to protest against the unfair trial in the cases registered against him. Earlier, the jail authorities put him on intravenous fluid on Monday night.
The APHC-AJK Convener, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, in a statement in Islamabad said that Muhammad Yasin Malik was already suffering from various ailments and his health had deteriorated due to denial of basic facilities including medical care during the continued illegal detention in the jail. He said Yasin Malik’s family, party members and the Kashmiri people are worried about the well-being of the JKLF chief.
Mahmood Ahmad Saghar said the Kashmiris’ struggle is not for attaining power but freedom from illegal Indian occupation. He said killings, illegal detentions, destruction of houses and molestation of Kashmiri women by Indian soldiers cannot stop the ongoing freedom struggle in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He paid tributes to the determination and courage of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, workers and youth including the APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Shahid-ul-Islam and demanded their immediate release.
Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leader, Altaf Hussain Wani, in his statement issued in Islamabad also voiced grave concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners particularly the declining health condition of Muhammad Yasin Malik. He said, Yasin Malik has already been suffering from multiple acute ailments and the Indian authorities have been forcing the JKLF chairman to take extreme measures. He urged world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the matter as Malik’s life was at grave risk in jail.
Altaf Wani said Hurriyat leaders and activists lodged in Tihar Jail have been deprived of their basic rights including the right to proper food, and medical treatment. He said it is unfortunate that the Kashmiri leaders have been left to rot in prisons without any trial.
Altaf Wani also took strong exception to the BJP’s campaign of hoisting Indian flag at every home in IIOJK and termed it as an attempt to Indianise Kashmir. He said Kashmiris consider hoisting of Indian flag as tantamount to betraying martyrs who have laid down their lives while fighting the Indian occupation. He maintained that hoisting of Pakistani flag at the top of their homes voluntarily marks Kashmiris’ unconditional love for Pakistan and their innate hatred against India’s forcible occupation.
He deplored that Narendra Modi-led Indian apartheid regime, which continues to thrive on communal politics, has failed to realize that such repressive measures cannot suppress the Kashmiri’s freedom sentiment.
