Islamabad, September 01, 2021 (PPI-OT):The AJK-chapter of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called upon the UN General Assembly to take concrete steps to address the long-pending Kashmir dispute by implementing its Security Council resolutions on the dispute.

Addressing a press conference at National Press Club, Islamabad, today, APHC AJK leaders including Convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi and Syed Faiz Naqshbandi said that the resolution about plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir was the first such resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council regarding any global conflict by the World Body.

They said that in this resolution, Kashmiris were promised their inalienable right, right to self-determination and India had also endorsed this right before the international community by signing the UN resolutions. The Hurriyat leaders said that India had incorporated Articles 370 and 35-A in its Constitution on the basis of the resolutions passed by the United Nations. However, they deplored that what India is doing in IIOJK manifests it’s anti-democratic, inhumane and unconstitutional behaviour and malafide intentions.

They said that all the steps taken and presidential decrees issued by India after 1949 were one-sided, and the presidential decree and cruel measures taken on August 5, 2019 have crossed all the limits in insulting to the Kashmiri people.

The leaders called on the United Nations to take concrete steps during the General Assembly session starting on the 14th of this month to alleviate the plight of Kashmiris. They urged the international community to take note of the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, initiate a debate to resolve the dispute, stop the Indian efforts to change the demography in IIOJK.

The Hurriyat AJK leaders also called for lifting of restrictions on political activities and media in the occupied territory. Besides, they asked the UN to send delegations to occupied Jammu and Kashmir to monitor the plight of Kashmiris, especially those detained in jails.
