APHC-AJK Raises Alarm Over Conditions of Kashmiri Detainees

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has voiced its concern over the conditions faced by Kashmiris detained in Indian and occupied Jammu and Kashmir jails. The group has called on the international community to take action for their release.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad, APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Pervez Shah and Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Butt stated that the Modi government has incarcerated numerous Hurriyat leaders and activists on false charges as a form of retaliation against their opposition to what they describe as India’s illegal occupation.

The statement highlighted that these detainees are being denied essential medical care and basic facilities in jails, which is having a detrimental impact on their health. The Hurriyat leaders appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to acknowledge the situation of the Kashmiri detainees and to apply pressure on India for their release. They reaffirmed their belief that the sacrifices made by Kashmiris for their freedom would not be in vain.

Advocate Pervez and Mushtaq Butt also paid homage to the martyrs of Jammu, underscoring that their sacrifices will eventually lead to significant outcomes. They called upon the United Nations to intervene in the Kashmir dispute in line with its resolutions to ensure peace and security in South Asia.
