APHC-AJK Protests Outside UN Office in Islamabad Against India’s Actions in Jammu and Kashmir

Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a significant protest outside the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan office in Islamabad today. The demonstration focused on drawing global attention to the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest aimed to highlight the brutalities perpetrated by Indian troops in IIOJK. APHC-AJK Convener, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, led the demonstration. During the protest, Hurriyat leaders emphasized that despite India’s commitment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, it continues to violate these rights in IIOJK. They accused Indian troops of committing crimes against humanity under draconian laws and using new tactics, including genocide, to alter the Muslim majority demographic of the region. The leaders urged the United Nations to take serious note of India’s actions in IIOJK.

Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, during the demonstration, submitted a memorandum to the UN office. The document called on UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres to facilitate a resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the dire situation of the Kashmiris under siege. The memorandum also highlighted issues such as fake encounters, forced disappearances, and denial of burial rights for martyred Kashmiris.

Simultaneously, the Democratic Forum France organized a meeting in Paris, calling for the United Nations to uphold its Universal Human Rights Declaration in regions like Kashmir and Palestine. This event, attended by members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri community, condemned Indian attempts to change the demographic composition of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Additionally, Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir held a protest in Muzaffarabad against the Indian Supreme Court’s decision regarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The demonstration, led by Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali and other leaders, rejected the decisions of the Indian Supreme Court concerning Jammu and Kashmir, labeling them as cruel and biased. The speakers asserted that these rulings could not change the internationally recognized disputed status of the region.

These coordinated protests and meetings across various locations highlight the widespread discontent and strong opposition to India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir and the recent judicial decisions by the Indian Supreme Court.
