APHC-AJK Protests in Islamabad Against Indian Actions in Jammu and Kashmir

Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a protest demonstration today outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The demonstration was against what they described as Indian state terrorism in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest, led by APHC-AJK Convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, saw participation from numerous people, including Hurriyat leaders and women. The demonstrators condemned India’s alleged systematic genocide of Kashmiris, aiming to suppress their struggle for the right to self-determination. Recent incidents, including the reported custodial killing of four civilians in Rajouri district and the arrest of hundreds during cordon and search operations, were highlighted as examples of this.

Speakers at the protest accused India of attempting to change the demographic composition of occupied Kashmir, claiming that the people there have been facing extreme state terrorism for over seven decades. They strongly condemned the human rights violations allegedly committed by Indian forces in the occupied territory.

The Hurriyat leaders stated that a durable peace in South Asia could not be achieved without resolving the Kashmir dispute As per the relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. They criticized the Narendra Modi-led Indian government for banning pro-freedom organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, arguing that these actions cannot suppress the Kashmiri freedom movement.

The leaders reiterated their determination to continue their struggle and appealed to the international community to play a role in peacefully settling the Kashmir dispute. They also called on international human rights organizations to notice the plight of detained Hurriyat leaders and activists and to work towards their early release.

The demonstration included prominent figures such as Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, and others. They offered prayers for the Kashmiri martyrs at the conclusion of the event.
