APHC-AJK pays tribute to martyrs of Poonch, Doda

Islamabad, August 01, 2022 (PPI-OT):A meeting of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter was held, today, in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar in which glowing tributes were paid to the martyrs of Poonch and Doda in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, on August 2, 1998, Indian troops shot dead 19 members of the same family in Sialan area of Poonch in the darkness of night. The 9 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army and the secret agency “RAW” together massacred 19 innocent people of the same family who have not got justice till date. The crime of this family was that their son was a freedom activist.

On July 25, five members of the same family, including three women, a man and a child, in Kotal area of Doda district were first tortured and later shot dead. The killer soldiers were dressed in civilian clothes and were recognized by the locals. Several so-called commissions were formed to investigate the incident, but no culprit has been punished so far.

The meeting appealed to the United Nations and the Human Rights Council to form a commission for probing these incidents and bring India to justice for the decades-long massacre of innocent Kashmiris in the occupied territory. Various programmes were arranged in the meeting to observe Exploitation Day on August 5. At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered for the martyrs of Kashmir and those who died due to floods in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
