Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) leaders Mushtaq Ahmed Butt and Zahid Safi paid tribute to the victims of the Sopore massacre, emphasizing that India’s actions could not quash the Kashmiris’ pursuit of freedom.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the leaders addressed the series of massacres that occurred in Sopore, Gaw Kadal Srinagar, Handwara, and Kupwara in January, affirming that these events have not swayed the Kashmiri people’s quest for self-determination. They highlighted the Kashmir issue’s emergence as a global concern, attributed to the sacrifices made by Kashmiris.
The leaders voiced their concerns regarding what they described as increasing Indian state terrorism in the region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They called upon the international community to address the Indian government’s actions against unarmed Kashmiris. Furthermore, they pointed out the ongoing wait for justice by the families of the massacre victims, which remains hindered by the current legal system under the Indian government.
