APHC-AJK Leaders Decry India’s Military Expansion in Kashmir

Islamabad: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter have voiced strong opposition to the increasing military presence of India in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it an attempt to extend its control over the region indefinitely.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK leaders Imtiaz Wani and Zahid Ashraf, in separate statements, drew parallels between India’s tactics in Kashmir and those employed by Israel, noting the transformation of the region into a heavily militarized area. They criticized the allocation of land to Indian soldiers and the issuance of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiris as efforts to alter the demographic makeup of the territory.

The leaders highlighted the failure of the substantial Indian military force, numbering over one million, to quell the ongoing Kashmiri freedom movement. They affirmed the determination of the Kashmiri people to achieve independence from Indian rule, fueled by significant sacrifices made over the years.

Furthermore, they called upon the international community to intervene and help resolve the Kashmir issue in line with United Nations resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri populace, stressing that this resolution is essential for lasting peace in South Asia.
