APHC-AJK Leader Rehmani Honors Martyrdom Anniversary of Abdul Khaliq Ganai

Karachi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, has paid tribute to Abdul Khaliq Ganai, also known as Jamal Afghani, on his 30th martyrdom anniversary. Ganai was a prominent figure in the freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir during the 1980s and 1990s.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdul Khaliq Ganai was remembered for his pivotal role in the Kashmiri freedom movement. He was arrested in Kupwara and died in custody on December 15, 1993. Ganai had dedicated his youth to organizing the people of Kashmir for the cause of freedom and the right to self-determination from the 1970s through the 1990s.

In his statement, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani emphasized that Ganai’s struggle was centered around achieving freedom for Kashmir in accordance with the right of self-determination, as outlined in the United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Rehmani also paid homage to Farooq Ahmad Sheikh of Watpore, Bandipore, who was martyred in December 1994 by Indian forces, as well as to Muhammad Ahsan Mir and eight other martyrs from Athwatoo Bandipore who lost their lives in 1993 in their struggle for self-determination.

Rehmani expressed his belief that the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri liberation movement leaders and civilians in the 1990s and subsequent decades will not be in vain. He asserted that the graveyards of martyrs across Jammu and Kashmir continue to resonate with the message of patriotism, inspiring future generations.

He also commented on the current situation in Kashmir, stating that the region faces challenging times under the Indian Hindutva regime led by Modi. Rehmani criticized the regime’s actions against the Muslim population and culture in Kashmir, predicting that India would ultimately face defeat in its efforts against the Kashmiri people’s quest for freedom.
