APHC AJK Leader Commemorates Martyrdom of Mujahid Leaders in Jammu and Kashmir

Islamabad, APHC AJK leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has paid homage to mujahid leaders Muhammad Yousuf Chopan, Abdul Rasheed Khan, and Fayaz Ahmad Shah on their martyrdom anniversaries in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Chopan and Khan were martyred by Indian troops in Botho, Bandipore, on January 23, 2000, while Shah met the same fate in Barzala, Srinagar, in January 1994. Rehmani, in a statement from Islamabad, lauded their commitment and sacrifices for the Kashmiri cause, noting that their youthful endeavors for the region’s freedom will not be forgotten. Chopan, in particular, was highlighted for leading the struggle until his death.

Rehmani also addressed the broader situation in the region, mentioning the thousands of Kashmiris detained in Indian prisons under stringent laws and the implications of the new domicile laws imposed by the BJP regime. He argued that these laws violate the century-old Permanent Resident law and have led to social, political, and economic insecurities within Kashmiri society.

Emphasizing the urgent need for international intervention, Rehmani called on the United Nations to act by invoking relevant UN Charter clauses and resolutions. He advocated for a free, fair, and impartial plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir as a resolution to the ongoing conflict.
