Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has marked October 27 as the grimmest day in Jammu and Kashmir’s chronicles.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, this date, back in 1947, was when Indian troops entered Jammu and Kashmir, defying the spirit of the Subcontinent’s Partition Plan. This move led to the unauthorized occupation of the territory, contradicting the desires of the Kashmiri populace.
Leaders of the APHC-AJK, namely Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, and several others issued separate statements in Islamabad, chronicling the hardships the Kashmiri people have faced under the Indian occupation for over seven decades. They emphasized that, despite the relentless challenges posed by the occupation, the spirit and resilience of the Kashmiri people remain undeterred.
These leaders also pointed out the unfulfilled promises by the Indian state to the people of Kashmir. They highlighted that India’s inaugural Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, had presented the Kashmir issue to the United Nations and had acknowledged the resolutions laid out by the global body, only to later backtrack on those commitments.
Furthermore, they expressed their discontentment regarding the abrogation of the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. They drew parallels between India’s approach and the Israeli model of demographic manipulation, aiming to alter the Muslim-majority composition of the region.
Despite the adversities and conspiracies, the APHC-AJK leaders accentuated the unwavering morale of the Kashmiri people and their relentless pursuit to achieve the objectives for which many have laid down their lives.
The APHC-AJK’s message to India was clear – acknowledge the inevitable, withdraw troops from the occupied land, and grant the Kashmiri people their fundamental right to self-determination.
In their closing remarks, the Hurriyat leaders called upon the global community to observe the ongoing state-sanctioned actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They urged for the longstanding Kashmir issue to be addressed in line with the United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
