Islamabad, February 09, 2022 (PPI-OT):The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) CHAPTER staged an anti-India demonstration, today, in front of Indian High Commission in Islamabad in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent Kashmiri liberation leaders, Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt.
During the demonstration led by Convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their struggle till the completion of the great mission of Muhammad Afzal Guru, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and lacs of other martyrs was reaffirmed.
The Hurriyat leaders on the occasion said that the Kashmiris were rendering unparalleled sacrifices for their inalienable right, the right to self-determination. They said that despite all its coercion and use of military force, India had failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment and therefore it should come to a peaceful solution to the problem by acknowledging the ground realities.
Referring to the illegally detained Hurriyat leaders lodged in different jails, they said that there was a fear that they would be treated like Mohammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru by India. The Hurriyat leaders appealed to the international community to take cognizance of the baseless allegations against the detained leaders and put pressure on India to release them.
It is to mention here that India had sent Muhammad Afzal Guru to gallows in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 09, 2013 and hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in the same jail on February 11 in 1984 for their leading role in the Kashmir freedom movement and buried them in the premises of the jail.
