Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) held a meeting in Islamabad, chaired by Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi, to finalize plans for observing Black Day on October 27. The meeting focused on organizing protest programs across multiple cities to mark the anniversary of India’s military intervention in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting declared October 27, 1947, as one of the darkest days in history, when India deployed its troops in Jammu and Kashmir in violation of the partition agreement and against the wishes of the Kashmiri people. The participants resolved that protests would take place in Muzaffarabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to condemn India’s illegal occupation and highlight the ongoing suppression of Kashmiri rights.
The meeting also noted that India’s government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working to change the demographic composition of the region by settling non-Kashmiris in the area, following a strategy similar to that of Israel in Palestine. The APHC-AJK emphasized that these actions aim to marginalize the Muslim majority in occupied Kashmir and turn it into a Hindu-dominated region.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the struggle for freedom and expressed confidence that, through the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, India would eventually be forced to withdraw from the occupied territory. The group reiterated that the goal of the protests is to remind the international community of its responsibility to implement United Nations Security Council resolutions that guarantee Kashmiris the right to self-determination.
Among those present at the meeting were APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Parvaiz Ahmed, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, and several other key leaders of the movement.
