Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has expressed strong criticism of the recent verdict by the Indian Supreme Court regarding Jammu and Kashmir, alleging it to be part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) broader agenda in the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a meeting chaired by the Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, APHC-AJK leaders condemned the BJP’s efforts to seize properties and natural resources in occupied Kashmir. They argued that such authoritarian actions, contrary to the principles of justice and law, would not quell the Kashmiri people’s resistance against Indian occupation.
The leaders asserted that a fair decision by the Indian apex court could have offered relief to the Kashmiris. However, they suggested that the court, influenced by the BJP, chose to align with the broader sentiments of the Indian populace, drawing parallels to past judicial decisions like the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.
The meeting highlighted the increased violence and oppression in IIOJK and against Muslims and other minorities in India since Narendra Modi’s ascension to power in 2014. The participants accused the Modi government of pursuing a policy of genocide in Kashmir to alter the region’s demographic composition.
Despite these challenges, the leaders emphasized that the Kashmiri people remain resolute in their struggle for freedom and are determined to continue their movement to its logical conclusion.
The APHC-AJK also acknowledged the support of Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar for the Kashmiri cause. They appealed to the international community to exert pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The meeting concluded with expressions of grief and condolences over the passing of Hurriyat leader Zahoor Ahmed Sheikh’s elder brother, extending sympathies to his family.
Notable attendees of the meeting included Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, and various other leaders and activists dedicated to the Kashmir cause.
