APHC-AJK condemns raids on Hurriyat leaders’ houses by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir

Islamabad, July 24, 2023 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly condemned the raids on the residences of Hurriyat leaders, human rights activists, journalists and common people by Indian forces and agencies in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC-AJK in a meeting held in Islamabad, today, with its Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar in chair said India is violating international law in the occupied territory.

The participants of the meeting said the New Delhi-controlled State Investigation Agency (SIA) is notorious for framing and punishing the Kashmiris in false cases and its raids in the territory are a retaliatory policy to silence the voices of the Hurriyat leaders and activists. They lamented that the Modi’s fascist Indian government was using investigative agencies like National Investigation Agency, State Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate as weapons to suppress and harass the Kashmiris. Indian agencies are framing false cases to break freedom sentiment of the Hurriyat leaders but would never succeed and the people of Kashmir would continue their struggle for right to self-determination.

It was said in the meeting that Kashmiris were being put behind the bars on the basis of political ideas without any crime. Filing false cases against the Kashmiris is the result of the Modi government’s frustration. In the meeting, intense anger was expressed against the cruel and illegal move of India to transfer Kashmiri political prisoners from occupied Jammu and Kashmir to remote areas of India.

It was said in the meeting that the APHC Chairman Masarat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Ameer Hamza, Dr Hameed Fayyaz, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Bilal Siddiqui, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr Qasim Fakhtoo, Naheeda Nasreen, Fahmida Sufi and hundreds of other Kashmiris had been languishing in different jails of India and the territory.

The meeting appealed to international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to release Kashmiri political detainees and withdraw troops from the territory to ensure a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. Muhammad Farooq Rajmani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yusuf Naseem, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Mir Tahir Masood, Imtiaz Wani, Nisar Mirza, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Syed Ejaz Rahmani, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, Zahid Safi, Raja Khadim Hussain, Muhammad Sultan Butt, Hassan Al-Bana, Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Syed Mushtaq, Abdul Majeed, Gulshan Ahmed, Muhammad Shafi Dar, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and others participated in the meeting.
