APHC-AJK Commemorates Sheikh Abdul Aziz on Martyrdom Anniversary in Islamabad

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter and the Kashmir Liberation Cell held a seminar at Kashmir House in Islamabad today to honor the legacy of the martyred liberation leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his anniversary.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was presided over by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and featured Pakistan Peoples Party leader Chaudhry Yasin as the chief guest. The event brought together a broad spectrum of leaders and activists who reflected on Sheikh Aziz’s enduring impact on the Kashmiri liberation struggle.

The speakers highlighted Sheikh Aziz’s significant contributions and sacrifices, describing him as an honest leader dedicated to opposing India’s control over Jammu and Kashmir until his death. They reiterated the commitment of the Kashmiri people to continue his mission, emphasizing the necessity of self-determination and readiness to make any sacrifice required.

Discussions also focused on the consequences of the abrogation of Article 370 by India, which they argued was aimed at altering the demographic composition of the majority-Muslim region. The speakers called on India to acknowledge the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir, repeal oppressive laws, release political detainees, and fulfill its international obligations by allowing Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

The seminar saw participation from notable figures including opposition leader in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Khawaja Farooq, former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Abdul Rashid Turabi, and several other leaders and activists who shared their perspectives on the ongoing struggle and the path forward.
