ISLAMABAD, A conference was held at the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter’s office in Islamabad today, marking the martyrdom anniversary of the Jammu martyrs. The event was chaired by APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar and attended by notable figures, including former President and Prime Minister of AJK, Sardar Yaqoob.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar was a joint initiative of APHC-AJK and Kashmir Liberation Council. It saw participation from various prominent individuals, including former AJK Prime Ministers Sardar Atiq and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Jamaat-e-Islami AJK Amir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Ahmed Raza Qadri, Jamshed Ahmed, Advocate Nabeela Irshad, and others.
The conference centered on paying homage to the Jammu martyrs. Speakers reflected on the sacrifices made by these individuals and reiterated the Kashmiri people’s commitment to continuing their mission until the realization of their right to self-determination.
The attendees condemned the brutal acts committed by the Indian army and the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, highlighting the atrocities aimed at denying Kashmiris their rights. The speakers emphasized that the sacrifices made by the Jammu martyrs on November 6, 1947, were for a noble cause and would always be remembered.
The massacre on this day in 1947 was described as a dark stain on human values. The event was moderated by Sheikh Abdul Mateen and Najib Ghafoor.
Senior APHC-AJK leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani issued a statement emphasizing the significance of November 6, 1947, in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the genocide orchestrated by Hindu forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, RSS, and Maharaja Patiala’s troops. He also mentioned the Indian Army’s presence in the Kashmir valley from October 27, 1947.
Other APHC-AJK leaders, including Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Javaid Ahmed, Altaf Ahmed Butt, and Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah, also issued statements, paying tributes to the Jammu martyrs and echoing the sentiments expressed at the conference.
