APHC-AJK Commemorates July 13, 1931, Martyrs with Solemn Tributes in Islamabad Seminar

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) held a seminar today to honor the martyrs of July 13, 1931, underscoring the day’s unforgettable impact on the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, led by Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi, the seminar speakers reflected on the enduring sacrifices of Kashmiris, beginning with the tragic events of 1931 when Dogra troops killed 22 Kashmiris outside Central Jail in Srinagar during a protest. The discussion also covered the broader historical context of Kashmir’s struggle, including the transition from Dogra to Indian occupation in 1947, which the speakers noted continued to impose severe hardships on the Kashmiri people.

The current policies of the Modi administration were described as exacerbating these difficulties by attempting demographic changes to reduce the Muslim majority in the region. The speakers called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene and support Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The seminar, which drew participants from a wide range of backgrounds, reinforced the collective resolve to continue the legacy of the 1931 martyrs.
