ISLAMABAD, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a memorial meeting marking the first death anniversary of the former APHC Chairman and founder chief of Ittehad Muslimeen Jammu and Kashmir, Maulana Abbas Ansari.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the gathering was chaired by APHC-AJK Convener, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, with Nazir Ahmad Qureshi serving as the chief guest for the event.
Throughout the meeting, speakers extolled the contributions of Maulana Abbas Ansari in the freedom movement. His attributes as a principled political leader, acclaimed religious scholar, preacher, and author were highlighted. Many emphasized Maulana Ansari’s unwavering dedication to finding a just solution to the Kashmir issue and stated that his efforts in the freedom movement will be long remembered.
The attendees also reflected on Maulana Abbas Ansari’s lifelong emphasis on Muslim unity. They discussed the challenges posed by India in the region and emphasized the necessity of unity to counteract India’s strategies against the freedom movement. The commitment of the Kashmiri people to persist in their freedom quest until they achieve their objectives was reaffirmed.
The event culminated with prayers for the departed leader and for all those who have lost their lives in the Kashmir struggle. The gathering also voiced prayers for the release of all unjustly detained Hurriyat leaders and activists and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian community.
The meeting witnessed participation from numerous Hurriyat leaders, including Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, and many others.
For context, Maulana Abbas Ansari passed away in Srinagar on October 25 of the previous year following an extended illness.
