Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has accused India of employing systematic violence and torture to permanently disable the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the statement was released on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, alongside leaders Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Parvez Ahmed Shah, and Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, expressed solidarity with Kashmiris enduring what they termed as India’s inhumane tactics.
The Hurriyat leaders asserted that Indian forces are using extreme methods to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle, resulting in many being left permanently disabled. They mentioned instances of severe torture during raids, with detainees, particularly young people, subjected to electric shocks, burns, nail removal, and being hung upside down in interrogation centers.
The leaders also condemned the use of pellet guns against peaceful protesters, leading to numerous cases of blindness among Kashmiris seeking self-determination. Despite international condemnation and the concerns of global human rights organizations, they claimed that Indian state actions in the region persist unchanged.
APHC-AJK appealed to human rights organizations, the United Nations, and global powers to pressure India into ceasing these alleged atrocities and fulfilling its commitment to granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
They called for immediate international intervention to address human rights violations in the region, highlighting the urgent need to protect the fundamental rights and dignity of the Kashmiri people.
