Islamabad: Leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter have accused the BJP-led Indian government of conducting sham elections in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to mislead the international community.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press conference in Islamabad, the APHC-AJK leadership criticized the Indian government’s actions post-August 5, 2019, which included the abrogation of Kashmir’s special status and the imposition of a military siege. They alleged that these measures were part of a broader strategy to alter the demographic and cultural landscape of the region, including the issuance of new domiciles to non-state residents and changing the educational curriculum to favor Hindu ideologies over Urdu.
The APHC-AJK leaders highlighted the prolonged detention of Kashmiri youth and the restrictions on their families, describing these actions as elements of state terrorism by the Modi regime. They dismissed the legitimacy of the elections and any political engagements with the Indian state, aligning themselves strictly against those participating in what they termed as “India’s fixed match.”
The conference was attended by numerous activists and members of the press, reinforcing the APHC-AJK’s stance on the need for a genuine resolution to the Kashmir dispute, anchored in the recognition of the Kashmiri people’s fundamental rights and aspirations.
