APHC Accuses India of Deceit in Occupied Kashmir Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has leveled serious accusations against India, asserting that its occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is marked by deceit, including the orchestration of fraudulent narratives aimed at discrediting the Kashmiri demand for self-determination, particularly in the lead-up to the Indian Lok Sabha elections.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas highlighted India’s alleged tactics to distort the Kashmiri struggle, including the deployment of additional forces and the intensification of crackdown operations in the occupied territory. Minhas warned of India’s efforts to manipulate public perception through the educational curriculum by incorporating the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, actions intended to undermine the legitimacy of the Kashmiri plebiscite movement anchored in UN resolutions.

The situation in Srinagar, described as a militarized zone with rampant house raids, search operations, and increased acts of state terrorism, underscores the oppressive conditions faced by Kashmiris. The use of stringent laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for the detention of innocent individuals further exemplifies the state’s authoritarian measures in the region.

Minhas also addressed the broader strategy of settler colonialism pursued by India, through which anti-Kashmiri legislation instills fear and insecurity among the indigenous population, aiming to dilute their demographic and political influence with an influx of non-Kashmiri settlers. This policy, he argued, represents a blatant violation of UN resolutions on the matter.

The APHC’s call to the United Nations and the international community seeks urgent attention to India’s actions in Kashmir, emphasizing that the region’s status as a disputed territory cannot be altered unilaterally by India and necessitates resolution in accordance with international law and UN resolutions.
