Islamabad: A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reviewed various initiatives under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to support Pakistan’s National Economic Transformation Plan 2024-2029, known as ‘Uraan Pakistan’. The session, attended by top government officials, including the Chief of the Army Staff and provincial leaders, highlighted significant steps towards economic growth and stability.
According to Press Information Department, the Secretary of the Apex Committee provided an overview of SIFC’s strategic focus and contributions. The meeting conveyed satisfaction with the country’s improving macro-economic conditions and emphasized the need for collective efforts to sustain economic growth. The Committee approved an Action Plan for the Optimization of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) aimed at revitalizing Pakistan’s industrial sector and reviewed a proposal for the National Minerals Harmonization Framework.
The forum also received briefings on initiatives in human resource development to enhance skills and achieve global accreditation standards. Provincial Chief Ministers shared current initiatives within their regions to boost economic progress. The Chief of the Army Staff reiterated the military’s commitment to supporting government efforts towards economic stability, ensuring peace and security. Concluding the session, the Prime Minister praised the role of SIFC and related stakeholders and stressed the importance of collaborative efforts for the country’s overall benefit.
