Anti-Muslim Riots in Gujarat Result in Injuries and Arrests Over Eid Milad Flag Installation

Gujarat: A violent outbreak occurred in Bharuch city, Gujarat, where anti-Muslim riots prompted by the installation of Eid Milad religious flags led to two injuries and 17 arrests on Tuesday night.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the clashes began after a group of Hindutva activists targeted Muslims in Gokul Nagar for setting up flags ahead of the Islamic festival, Eid Milad. The local police have filed an FIR and detained at least 17 individuals believed to be involved in the incident.

The violence took place in a mixed-population area of Bharuch. Disputes arose as some community members started to decorate their neighborhood with religious flags and banners, a customary practice to celebrate the upcoming Eid Milad.

The recent disturbances in Bharuch mirror a similar incident that occurred in Surat city on Sunday. In Surat, 27 people were arrested and six minors were detained following violent confrontations related to religious celebrations.
